BrowserHawk Reports Licensing

BrowserHawk Reports requires a BrowserHawk Enterprise Edition license for each server that the BRWS runs on. In addition, any other servers that you wish to gather statistics from must also have a license for BrowserHawk Enterprise Edition.

In typical deployments only one BRWS server should be necessary, regardless of the number of servers that you are collecting statistics for. See the section on Deployment for more details.

BRWS Licensing FAQ:

We have three production web servers and one development server. We want to collect statistics from the production servers, as well as test the statistics collection from the development server. What licenses do I need?

Typically you would pick one of your production servers to run the BRWS, and all other servers including the development server would log their collected stats to that one server. Under this scenario you would need a total of four BrowserHawk Enterprise Edition licenses (three for the production machines, and one for development). If you instead want to run the BRWS on a separate, dedicated server, you would need an additional BrowserHawk Enterprise Edition license for that dedicated server.

Does the BrowserHawk Reports Web Service that comes with my Enterprise Edition of BrowserHawk provide reporting capabilities?

No - the BRWS is solely designed for highly efficient, scalable logging of the browser statistics into a database. You can, however, easily write your own SQL statements to query the statistics in any way you wish. Likewise cyScape offers a web-based reporting service for a small monthly fee that produces graphs and detailed reports for just about all reports of interest.

Can we offer hosted BRWS solutions?

Under the terms of the licensing you may only run the BRWS to collect statistics for machines you or your organization has licensed the Enterprise Edition of BrowserHawk ActiveX/COM or JavaBean component for. For example, if you purchased three copies of BrowserHawk, your license for the BRWS permits the collection of statistics from only those three servers.
