Error installing CountryHawk on Windows NT/2000
Created: 4/17/2002    Updated: 9/18/2002
Q   I attempted to install the ActiveX version of CountryHawk on Windows NT 4.0 Server with SP6a. During installation I had the following error: Error 1904. Module C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\cyCountry.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147024770. Contact your support personnel.

A   This error (and other installation issues) on Windows 9x or NT 4.0 typically is the result of an older version of the Windows Installer run-time on the server you are installing on.

To resolve the issue, return to the CountryHawk download page and download the version of CountryHawk that has the Windows Installer run-time bundled with it (or you may wish to skip this step and instead try what's recommended below).

Then proceed to install this version and the error should be resolved.

If, however, this does not resolve the issue, perform the following steps:

  • check to see if you have a file named msvcr70.dll in your system32 directory (or perhaps elsewhere on your system)
  • if the file is not found, download msvcr70.dll (336KB) and place it in your system32 directory - note that this file should not be registered with regsvr32.
  • rerun the CountryHawk installation
