Cannot find the file msiexec error on installation
Created: 2/27/2002    Updated: 2/27/2002
Q   When attempting to run the installation exe I get the following error: "Cannot find the file msiexec (or one of its components)". What does this mean?

A   CountryHawk uses Microsoft's Windows Installer technology to provide efficient install and uninstall operations.

This error message means that the Windows Installer is not available on your computer. You can add the Windows Installer by doing one of the following:

  • CountryHawk is available for download both with and without the Windows Installer. If you download the CountryHawk product from our web site that contains the Windows Installer run-time, CountryHawk will automatically install Windows Installer for you, if it is not present on your machine, prior to installing CountryHawk.
  • You can also download the Windows Installer run-time separately from Microsoft here. On that page, for the product name select "Windows Installer" and select your platform. Then download and install the Windows Installer. Once that is installed, you can then launch your CountryHawk installation.
