Customizing maindefs.bdf or writing your own

BrowserHawk is designed to be extremely extensible, depending on your needs. Most developers will want to use cyScape’s standard browser definitions, while those with advanced needs may want to modify it or create their own to suit their custom needs.

To modify the maindefs.bdf, load it in the BrowserHawk Editor, and make changes as desired. When you save your BDF, it will also be saved as maindefs.bdd. The BDD file is a specially formatted file for use by the BrowserHawk component.

Note: All BDFs contain a Default Browser object, along with a handful of properties (version related). These objects are used for internal purposes and may not be renamed or deleted.
